Despite the fact that we have daily contact in an unfavorable work environment with very ill citizens, Fire Department members in 2009 had the lowest average sick leave usage of all city departments according to statistic provided by the Office Of Human Resources.  Unfortunately, we also lead all city departments in the Injuries On Duty category which is a testament to the perilous working conditions that we face at emergency scenes.  Keeping sick leave usage low, benefits department members who become very ill thru a program called 1210 where members are eligible to get assistance during their illness.  Keep up the great work.
