Please join Saint Paul Firefighters IAFF Local 21 and the Minnesota Professional Fire Fighters (MPFF) for the annual Fire Service Day at the Capitol on Monday, February 26, 2024.  

The Fire Service Day at the Capitol event presents an opportunity to meet your state legislators and become a local resource for them on firefighter issues in Minnesota.  What we do at the MN Capitol matters.  Fire Service Day puts us in front of our elected legislators where we can advocate and inform them about issues that affect firefighters, our families and the communities we serve (i.e. pensions, benefits, staffing, budgets, health & safety.) 

The event will be held in the Vault Room of the Capitol building.  It will begin with a legislative briefing and an opportunity to hear from speakers.  After lunch we will break for individual and group meetings with legislators.  You are encouraged to wear a red Fire Service Day at the Capitol polo shirt if you have one. If not, please wear your red Local 21 tee shirt or a shirt with an IAFF logo.

We are asking all members to register by Noon on Friday, February 16, 2024.  There is no cost to attend.  Lunch is provided.

10:00 AM – 11:00 AM: Check-In (Vault Room of the Capitol)

11:00 AM – 12:00 PM: Guest Speakers, Lunch, Legislative Briefing (Vault Room of the Capitol)

12:00 PM –   3:00 PM: Legislative Meetings (State Office Building & Minnesota Senate Building)

After you register, the team at Lockridge Grindal Nauen will work to schedule appointments on your behalf with your state representative and state senator based on your home address and/or the city where your department is located. We will provide you with a meeting agenda upon arrival at the event.
